Sightseeing

Its very easy to hike to Kaymoor Top, where you will find the Kaymoor Miners Trail. These sturdy stairs are in the same location as both the stairs that miners would use to get to and from parts of the mine, and The Haulage, which was an open incline that would transport people. This trail is great to access the Gorge and New River on foot, to spend a whole day, or part of a day exploring the old mining structures of the Kaymoor Mines, and the town of Kaymoor. Or, do like many locals, and use it as an open air gym and see how many laps you can do before your legs turn to jello. Either way, head up the driveway towards my house and access the trail that is immediately past my car shed. When you get to the trails, turn left onto Dalton. Turn left when you get to the gravel road. The trailhead will be on your right, just past the T. For a great view of the Gorge, go slightly past the trailhead where the Haulage upper platform can be seen. Through the parking lot, you can access the trails to both Longpoint and the Town trails.
