We will meet in the heart of Savannah's landmark Historic District at Savannah Bike Tours. There, guests will get fitted for bikes, be given water, and have an opportunity to use the restroom before the tour starts. Once everyone is set, we will give a safety brief and take off on our easy, breezy exploration of the sights and stories that make our city such a fun and memorable place! We stop often to hear about the history, architecture, culture, cuisine, and the modern vibe of the city. There will be multiple opportunities to take photographs, including planning photo stops. Because it simply didn't happen without pictures! And we will fully immerse ourselves in the beauty all around! Stories are shared about the many cultural influences in Savannah including Irish, Gullah Geechee, and Native tribes. Squares on this tour include Wright, Chippewa, Madison, Lafayette, Columbia, and Oglethorpe. History exudes throughout the houses dating to 1819 built out of oyster shells, streets paved over gravestones, magnificent fountains made at local iron works with an Irish connection, and glorious churches of religions once banned. Completely unlike any other area excursion, it’s like eavesdropping on a candid late-night conversation where a close friend shares risqué, strange-but-true anecdotes of the unique –and sometimes bizarre– people, places and things which made the city so infamously freaky in the 1970s through the 2000s – most of which are forgotten or simply never known. Unlike virtually all Savannah history tours, which focus on the 1700s and 1800s (via info derived from books), these stories are all fewer than three degrees of separation from your guide. In fact, most happened right in front of him! The rest were shared with him by trusted friends. No one else has access or rights to these memories. Each tour is a bit different, but MAY include tales of criminality, sexual acts, drug use, celebrity sightings, bizarre deaths and foolish behavior - along with the city’s lengthy reputation as a hub of the Deep South’s LGBTQ community, PLUS heartfelt personal recollections of some of the most beloved, gloriously oddball characters of the past 40 years. Near the end of the tour, we'll stop at a bona fide LEGENDARY dive bar to use the restroom and/or purchase cold beverages to stroll with. Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing appropriate for the temperature and humidity. Be aware it will be around 90 minutes before we take our break. Bring ID for entry into bar. :)

After a safety briefing, we'll take a quick ride out of Turner's Creek and raise sail in the Wilmington River. You can sit back and relax or learn how to sail and take control under the guidance of your knowledgeable and friendly captain. While I can't guarantee dolphins, gorgeous sunsets, or new friends, the odds are certainly in our favor. The wind will fill the sails and gently push us along as you get great views of the islands and marshes that make the Lowcountry so beautiful. This is truly a unique experience that will get you off the beaten path and give you a taste of Savannah from a local's perspective! Whether you want to go on a morning cruise in search of dolphins, an afternoon sunset cruise, or a midday cruise up the ICW, please message me and we can alter the trip to fit your preference and schedule. A cooler with ice and waters will be provided so feel free to bring any drinks or snacks that you might want to enjoy while on our cruise. Lifejackets will be provided and all safety gear will be provided. Pick-up will generally be at Butter Bean Beach but the pick-up spot as well as departure can be adjusted for your convenience. Kayaking & Coffee is the Perfect Combo Experience! We will begin by doing a short “Kayak Clinic” on proper kayaking technique and waterway safety! We will then depart on kayak enjoying the calm waterways of Broad Creek while sipping great coffee with a “great cause” - supporting injured manatees, Manatee health, and rehabilitation. As we paddle at your pace, I’ll explain the local Hilton Head area, ecosystem, wildlife, etc. which I am passionate about respecting and protecting. You will learn more about the marsh grass, oysters, wildlife, ecosystem, and Hilton Head overall. (We will have the CHANCE to see pelicans, herons, egrets, osprey, and Atlantic bottlenose dolphin! Remember - wildlife is on their time so this is not guaranteed.) After the trip, I will send you any of my personal recommendations on restaurants & activities so you can make the most out of your vacation. Location of the kayaking experience is Broad Creek. The surroundings include marshes, houses, marinas, etc. Groups are always limited to 10 or less for a small & personal experience. Experience is great for beginners- experienced.
