Japanese eras in the past, “Meiji”, “Taisho”, ”Showa” and “Heisei”.Throughout these long 4 eras, this house had sustained its owner’s living. Thus the house with rice fields and other fields nearby harmonizing with local landscape reminds us of its history,We, “NPO Joint Plus” renovated this house as “Joint House” and have started Bed & Breakfast since this autumn of new Japanese era, “Reiwa”.

Priestor
What we would like to convey to visitors with this Joint House is Japanese conception “Wa”.It is said that since long ago the Japanese people have found new value and beauty by combining various things. Our intention of this “Wa” originates in the bountiful and diverse nature in Japan.
For instance in Occidental world, it seems that they found beauty in regular arrangement of trees seen in the site called geometric formal garden. On the other hand in Japan, we might have found beauty in non-regular, non-geometric arrangement of trees. We can safely say that the reason for this Japanese sense came from our finding beauty in trees arrangement as they were in the forest, which essentially kept non-geometrical natural trees.Particularly in the graded land, the large diameter trees grow adjacent to each other, and the trees in the forest stand sparse or dense. This situation seems to have been illustrated in making Japanese traditional gardens.
Like this, succession of sparse or dense trees and succession of trees combined with different species have formed forests and its natural beauty in this country. The conventional method of house-building in Japan has also adopted the conception of “Wa”.The method uses “wooden-framework” in which we combine timber. And it may provide the house with higher earthquake proof, higher fire resistance, and higher environmental performance. However, it is said that the Japanese house-building style making use of skillful wooden-framework has greatly changed since “Meiji” era. “Joint House” was built by Japanese traditional technique of house-building. So this house’s history of 145 years may inspire us of “Wa”, which is unfortunately about to fade out even in Japan now. Thus “Wa” means Japan itself, and also means “accordance”, “peace”, and “synergy by combining things”. We would like to treasure this “Wa” in a broad sense above. Then we hope “Joint House” to be visitors’ “Home”, enjoying meeting diverse people and their ideas there. And hopefully this experience makes us discover another valuable conception of “Wa”, which can be shared with people in the world.
