Leesi, Harju County, Estónsko

Lahemaa National Park is an important conservation area for woodland, wetland and coastal ecosystems, mainly since it has some of the most varied natural conditions in Northern Estonia. There are beautiful unique limestone grasslands known as alvars, impressive geological monuments such as the Baltic Klint ( UNESCO recognised ) plus historical and architectural monuments. The area is sprinkled with travelling boulders, known as erratics - giant rocks, often the size of houses, that travelled all the way from Northern Scandinavia with the last ice age. The national park belongs to the European Natura 2000 network courtesy of Lahemaa's extensive bird and wilderness area.
Through summer and winter it is not unusual to come across Roe Deer in the garden and adjoining woodland, as well as badgers, pine martens and various wild birds. If you are very lucky you may also spy one of the more timid creatures such as mountain hares, raccoon dogs, moose, wild boar or even lynx! Estonia is also home to wolves and brown bears but it is very rare to come across these unless you are with a specialised tracker. Every spring countless birds are attracted to the Estonian wetlands and coasts. It is a haven for Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, Pied Flycatchers, Cranes and Greater White fronted Geese to name a few birds which can be found in the park.
The total area of Lahemaa National Park is 450 sq miles, of which 300 sq miles is mainland and 150 sq miles of sea.
The nearest shop is 800 meters away (summer time only)
The nearest local supermarket is 10 miles (all year round)
