The nearest village town is Aymanam and the Vembanadu lake is only 20 minutes away from here by car. Aymanam village has captured the imagination of many well-versed authors. One can see read the beautiful description of the village in Arundhati Roy's Booker Prize-winning novel, “The God of Small Things”. Situated within10 kms radius of Kumarakom, Aymanam is a tiny village that has Lake Vembanad to its left and River Meenachil flowing from its right. The village abundantly blessed with nature's bounty, almost 2/3rd of the land is covered with paddy fields (rice). As in any Kuttanad village, the paddy fields lie below sea-level.

I am Johnson, you could call me Joe. I have been a hospitality professional for more than a decade, now own and operate a homestay along with my family. I am a foodie both love to eat and cook! I love nature, birds, treks, yoga, books, and movies, and most especially love to meet and interact with people from different cultures and nationalities! In spite of Covid 19, it is still a beautiful word!


Belong to the third generation of the migrants who have moved from the Central Kerala district of Kottayam( Erstwhile Travancore kingdom) in the early 1930s. Jo is a graduate in Psychology from Adamoson University, Manila, Philippines, and also a Certified Hotel Administrator by American Hotel & Motel Association and has more than 16 years of hospitality exposure with reputed brands like Club Mahindra, Habitat Hospitality, in operations, sales & marketing, administration, HR. In the homestay venture, Ms. Jeena Elizabeth, Jo’s wife is rather your host. Jeena is a postgraduate in Mathematics and hails from the city of Kochi. Mr. Joseph Oommen, the head of the house is a skilled baker of the traditional baking era whose expertise in baking and cooking will be the prime flavoring agent during the experience at Mistletoe. Mrs. Annamma, Joseph’s wife is from a conservative Syrian Christian family of Kottayam, it is only an added blessing that Annamma has excellent cooking skills especially in Syrian Christian delicacies. And their jovial grandsons Nirmal & Thejas, aged six and three would certainly add some rhythm and life to the entire ambiance at Mistletoe Munnar.
