Sitting directly on the Ise-ji route of the ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail, our home is a rural and quiet place to take in traditional Japanese culture and architecture amongst our expansive gardens and local tea fields.

This is listed as a "private room" but most likely you will have the entire premises to yourself, and can sleep in additional rooms if your group is large. In addition to the space, we also offer free bicycles and can arrange a taxi to/from the station if needed.

Priestor
With 400 sq. meters of floor space, our house was originally built for a local merchant family. We have lived on this road for generations, and are now opening up the house to be enjoyed by visitors to Japan, or simply people who want to get out of the cities and experience countryside life.

With ornate Japanese gardens in front and back, the original traditional home still stands in the center. Modern wings have been added on over the years, though keeping with traditional design, and it is immaculately kept and well-built.

We have several bedrooms, so where you stay will depend mostly on your group size . We have 4+ tatami guest rooms, including one that looks out onto the front garden and pond, and this is the default room for couples and groups up to four. That room has its own toilet and sink.

Heating and air-conditioning are electric, and discreetly installed throughout the complex. The exceptions are the tatami rooms in the traditional house (for aesthetic reasons), but the sleeping and social rooms are all equipped.

Kitchen: Equipped with a large refrigerator, IH stove, cooking implements, toaster oven, microwave, and coffee maker. Unless it suddenly runs out, there are usually plenty of coffee grinds for your use, and we usually have basic spices and oils available as well. We also have various other gas and electric tabletop cooking tools for making nabe, takoyaki, yakiniku, etc. The large charcoal grills are outside in the dedicated BBQ space which also has a roof.

The wi-fi in the house is quite strong and fast enough to stream HD video, but it's not as fast as you'd get in the cities.

Prístup pre hostí
Essentially this is a complex of three houses, with two of them physically connected with an old kura (warehouse) in between.

You will have access to most of the main house and all of the gardens, as well as a kitchen.

For bathing we have a large and clean unit bathroom with a tub and shower located in the modern wing.

We also have a study for those wishing to write, draw, read, or just get some work done. An antique desk and chair look out onto the garden.

Parking is abundant if you are coming by car and you'll have a large covered garage to put your car in.

Ďalšie veci, ktoré treba spomenúť
Heating during the colder months:
While the bedrooms and living room have electric heat, to heat the common spaces in the traditional part of the house you'll need to use heating oil. Cost for this is low, but billed separately depending on how much you use.

Bicycles: We have five bicycles (four of them are folding) available for your use, and we ask for a small fee just to cover maintenance of them.

We have also worked with locals to provide a comprehensive list of experiences which are available to customers staying two nights or more, and depending on availability. Please inquire well in advance.

- Canoe/kayak rental and tours down the Miyagawa river (summer and fall)
- Meal delivery: My uncle is a skilled Japanese chef as well as a hunter and fisherman. If you give us a budget (at least 5,000 yen per person, minimum order for 2 people) he can prepare dinners with fresh fish, local vegetables, local Matsusaka beef (wa-gyu), and even wild boar and deer that he hunts in the area. Additional meals from local restaurants can be delivered, such as unagi (eel).
- Green tea harvesting and processing (May and September)
- My mother is also a tea ceremony, kimono, and ikebana instructor, so if you are interested in these experiences please let us know well in advance and we can check her schedule. There is a small fee for time and materials, and it's an ideal location to learn or just take it in.

We're located in a famous area for green tea production, so there are many tea fields around the property, as well as beautiful old warehouses for processing the harvest. We also have fields of our own, so if you're around during harvest times (usually May and September) you can have the chance to see this happen and even get some fresh tea to take with you.

We also sell our own tea which is available in the house!

Location:
If you're looking for a place with bustling bars and restaurants, this isn't it!

The nice part of rural Japan is that it's relatively untouched by foreign tourism, so you can have an authentic countryside experience. However, that also means that it's a quiet rural neighborhood. We don't have many shops or restaurants, but there's a handful within a kilometer (and they're also friendly places with good food). Above all our area is a place to take in nature, see the stars at night, and be free to go at your own pace, so please keep this in mind when booking.

We're situated in the mountains about a 20~30 minute drive from either Ise or Matsusaka. By train Matsusaka will take about 30 minutes and Ise about 40 depending on the time of day. Walking from the train station is about 1.5km, but we can arrange a taxi for you (about 700 yen) if you give us your arrival and departure times.

You'll find a supermarket about 1.2km away, as well as a convenience store a mere 20 meters away.

We're a Japanese/American couple living between Tokyo (work) and Mie Prefecture (hometown), so we have a firm grasp of both city and country life in Japan. We love discovering hidden treasures in the countryside and sharing them with our guests.

Počas vášho pobytu
We primarily live in Tokyo so we aren't in town all the time, but when we are we stay with our family who runs a tea farm down the street. For the most part you'll have the house to yourself, though sometimes my mother uses the tatami rooms for tea ceremony, ikebana classes, and other various events. Also, the property requires a fair bit of maintenance, so we occasionally have gardeners or other workers around.
